'Fifty Shades of Grey' movie: Alexis Bledel out of the running?

The "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie rumors continue to spark interest all over the internet. At this point, readers and fans of the popular novels are dying to find out just who will be playing the lead roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. Actors' names have been tossed around for months, but there has not been any official comments from movie execs. On March 8, Us Weekly hinted that one female frontrunner may not be in the film.

Alexis Bledel ("Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants") was a favorite to play Ana. However, she has signed on to do a new sitcom on FOX called "Friends and Family." If the show gets picked up, there's a good chance that Bledel won't have the time to make the movie.

The "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie isn't set to start filming for at least another 6 months (or even a year), but by that time, Bledel could have her hands full with her new show. The show is the U.S. version of the popular British show, "Gavin and Stacey." Several big names have already signed on to do the show (including Jason Ritter, Kerri Kenney, and Kurt Fuller). Bledel will play one of the lead roles -- Stacey.

If Bledel wasn't a lead role one could presume that she would have time to do a major film like "50 Shades" but if she has success on "Friends and Family," she probably won't have the time -- unless of course she can make it work.

The "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie isn't slated for release until 2014 at the earliest. Do you Alexis Bledel is out as Ana?
