Henry Cavill showed up at another public event wearing a suspiciously familiar tie. On Feb 22 Just Jared published photos of the future “Man of Steel” looking more like Christian Grey than Clark Kent at that night’s Great British Film Reception in Los Angeles. The “Fifty Shades of Grey” character fans hope Cavill will portray is known for his signature grey tie, which is shown on the cover of the novel. A Sulia news source immediately made the connection posting a story on Feb 22 saying, “what do you think, are the gray ties a coincidence, a PR ploy or a hint that he wants this role?" This appearance is the second where Cavill wears a noteworthy tie; the first was at a BAFTA pre-show party in early February.
Henry Cavill, 29, is an obvious choice to play Christian Grey in the “Fifty Shades of Grey” film adaptation. The UK born actor has become a hot commodity in Hollywood. Labeled “Breakout Star of 2013” by Fandango and starring in the anticipated Summer blockbuster “Man of Steel” are just the beginning of why Cavill would be a smart studio choice. The actor was also called out by Stephanie Meyer as being her ideal Edward Cullen way back in 2007. Significantly, the character Christian Grey is based on Stephanie Meyer’s character from the “Twilight” Saga.
Not only is Cavill a logical choice, he is also quickly becoming a fan favorite. Ian Somerhalder and Matt Bomer remain the top two casting choices voiced by fans yet Henry Cavill is gaining a following as well. The Henry Cavill Fanpage has over 24K followers and the page is flooded with support for the actor to play Christian Grey. The founder of the site, Dr. Deb C. Goldfine, stated “having seen Henry in person on three occasions, I can attest that the charisma Henry emanates is truly palpable. Everyone here at HCF believes that Henry would nail this role hands down if he is offered the opportunity and accepts it.” That desire may soon becaome a reality as the entire "Fifty Shades" film team is currently together in Los Angeles where fans hope they are coming together to choose a director. There have also been hints that the screenplay by Kelly Marcel is finished, which brings the project one step closer to casting.
