'Fifty Shades of Grey' goods make their way to retail, not just bookstores

The “Fifty Shades” pop culture hit continues with not just novels or casting talk of the upcoming movie this time, but with clothes, bookmarks and even secret journals.

Recently confirmed this Saturday morning, merchandise for “Fifty Shades of Grey” and its bestselling sequels by author E.L. James will be making its way to retail stores near you. From new outfits to catchy accessories, the “Fifty Shades” products are expected to be another popular phenomenon of their own, and are said to perhaps prepare ladies for a fantasy arrival of a personal Christian Grey.

‘Fifty Shades’ trilogy now being cuffed to key chains and lingerie

Fans of the passionate love story between Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele may just find themselves seeing a lot more “Fifty Shades of Grey” action than before—even when the pages are closed.

To review, “Fifty Shades of Grey” is an erotic romance novel that tells of the meeting of an innocent college graduate and a handsome billionaire. The two soon find themselves irresistibly linked together—quite literally—in a sexual world of whips and chains that leaves Christian Grey (as well as eager fans of the books) wanting more.

According to a recent post this Saturday morning by the “LA Times,” new “Fifty Shades of Grey” products will now be arriving to U.S. stores. Sometime in late fall or early winter—around the August to December months—a variety of merchandise based on the steamy books will be made available.

Some of these products include clothes, lingerie, stationary gifts—like diaries, notebooks and journals—and a variety of accessories. Christian Grey boxers and Anastasia Steele sleepwear may soon become a common sight beneath the suits and sun dresses for men and women, respectively.

Other confirmed examples of this new merchandise are wallets, designer portfolios, key chains, and—both fitting and unsurprisingly—silver ties. These products may just be what fans of the bestselling series need while waiting for the coming “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie adaptation as well.

Expected response to new 'Fifty Shades' products and phenomenon

Just as the “Fifty Shades of Grey” series has seen so much success through its sexy books, sales for the merchandise is also expected to be riding high upon their release.

“We believe that [after the ‘Fifty Shades’ review] the products will be as phenomenal as the novel trilogy was,” recently reported Carole Postal, the president of CopCorp. This licensing agency develops new merchandise and entertainment art on new brands, including the “Fifty Shades of Grey” sensation.

Postal also revealed that all “Fifty Shades” merchandise would be prepared in style and smooth as the words found in the hot-topic book before being shipped to U.S. retail stores.

“The merchandise accessories that will arrive in the market soonest are goods … that can be produced faster. In this case, bath and body products, bedding, and home [decor] will come later,” she added.

Just like the books—as well as the coming movie adaptation—the main audience for these “Fifty Shades of Grey” products seems to be older women, though younger female and male markets may very well be interested, too.
