‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ film screenwriter to ‘turn fans on’ with NC-17 rating (Video)

Production for the Focus Features’ adaptation of E.L. James’ “Fifty Shades of Grey” book series has kicked into high gear since earlier last year. On Tuesday, January 8, The Telegraph spoke with Kelly Marvel, the films screenwriter, about what fans can expect to see in this raunchy romance. Marcel bluntly told the source that fans can expect, “a lot of sex.”

“The fans love this book, and I want them to love the film as much,” Marcel says. “I want to make them laugh and cry, to turn them on. I want this to do everything.”

As far as the film rating goes, Marcel told The Telegraph, “It will be NC-17. It’s going to be raunchy. We are 100 percent going there.” It’s no secret that “Fifty Shades of Grey” earned the majority of its fans for the amount of risqué sex in it. After all, E.L. James stated in an earlier interview that she meant to make this book a “Twilight” dirty romance version for adults – and she succeeded.

Most theater chains though don’t carry NC-17 ratings, so it’s questionable if production will change its mind and reduce it to an R rating. Still, with so many fans, a limited release to keep the NC-17 rating shouldn’t hurt the film.
