Charlie Hunnam walked the "Son's of Anarchy" red carpet on September 7 looking more like Christian Grey than ever. Although he is still sporting his Jax Teller beard and long hair, he looked quite polished in a grey suit and tie. Hunnam not only decided to look the part of the billionaire CEO, he also discussed the role with The Hollywood Reporter, delving into why he took it and his feelings about the inevitable racy scenes.
Hunnam, 33, admitted that he and co-star Dakota Johnson had “tangible” chemistry and “It felt kind of exciting and fun and weird and compelling, and so that was it.” After meeting with Director Sam Taylor-Johnson he was intrigued and “went and read the first book to get a clearer idea of who this character was, and felt even more excited about the prospect of bringing him to life." Sounds like the UK born star has passion for the project, something fans can really get excited about.
So why were there rumors that Charlie Hunnam was not fully convinced at first and only decided to reconsider the role at a later time? According to The Hollywood Reporter there were a number of factors including “more talks with Taylor-Johnson, the filmmakers pushing back the shooting schedule to give Hunnam more time to prepare, and the reading with his future co-star.”
Hunnam charmed reporters with his candor when asked about the racy material in “Fifty Shades of Grey." "My first job was on a Channel 4 miniseries called Queer as Folk. It was incredibly explicit sexual scenes with a man . I mean I'm 16 and 17 years wiser now. So if I could do it when I was 18 with a guy, I can certainly do it at 33 with a lady." Fans of “Sons of Anarchy” also know that he is not shy about nudity these days, he is often seen partially naked in the FX show.
