"Fifty Shades of Grey" casting news has arrived as expected this week. E L James has been hard at work in Los Angeles preparing for principal photography to begin on the film Nov 5. The Hollywood Reporter broke the story on Oct 7 that Ana Steele's mother had been cast. Jennifer Ehle is the latest to join the "Fifty Shades" team as Carla.
Jennifer Ehle, 43, has gone from the classic Elizabeth Bennet in "Pride & Prejudice" to the flighty mother in the erotic "Fifty Shades." She is also known most recently for her roles in "Zero Dark Thirty" and "Contagion." Ehle is the daughter of veteran English actress Rosemary Harris, her father is also an acclaimed American writer. With over 30 acting credits to her name and roles opposite stars such as Colin Firth and Ryan Gosling, Ehle is well qualified to take on the role of Carla in "Fifty Shades of Grey."
This announcement is the first made since Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson were cast as Christian and Ana last month. More supporting roles will need to be filled as the start date approaches quickly. E L James is still in Los Angeles meaning more official casting news can be expected soon.
