"Fifty Shades of Grey" fans can now move on from their break-up with Charlie Hunnam. Closure has come in the form of hot UK-born Jamie Dornan who is currently in negotiations to fill the role of Christian Grey. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news on Oct 23 that Dornan would be stepping in to don the playroom jeans in the erotic romance.
THR is also reporting that Dornan was contacted early to replace Hunnam, who was said to be having issues with Kelly Marcel's script. "He actually was contacted before Hunnam officially dropped out and tested Friday opposite female lead Dakota Johnson for director Sam Taylor-Johnson, author EL James and producers Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti." The other actors that read for the role were Billy Magnussen and Francois Arnaud.
Dornan, 31, has garnered fan support over the past two weeks which should make this transition a smooth one. Known best in the US for his role as The Huntsman in "Once Upon a Time," he has also starred in the acclaimed "The Fall." A one time model for Calvin Klein, Dornan still physically has what it takes to immediately jump into the role as Christian Grey.
The "Fifty Shades" production team now has their lead roles and filming is set to begin in mid-November. The release date of Aug 1, 2014 has not yet been moved. All that is left is to fill in the remaining supporting roles, which fans can expect soon.
