Known more commonly as soccer here in the US and Canada, the 2014 World Cup is one of the biggest global sporting events of its kind.

According to a FIFA report on June 3, teams are arriving in Brazil all week long, including Croatia and Iran who arrived yesterday. With 32 countries competing in this year's World Cup, it will truly draw interest from all around the world.

Of course with a sporting event of this magnitude, Las Vegas sports books and odds makers are all over it! Host country Brazil is the heavy favorite to win the 2014 World Cup. Brazil has had one of the best teams out for the past several year's and they have high hopes along with their fans that they will be the last team standing on July 13.

Followed by Brazil as the top favorites are Argentina at 9/2, Germany at 11/2, Spain at 6/1 and Belguim is listed at 18/1. Not many experts are giving the American team much of a shot to bring home the Cup. The US Team is listed at 100/1 on many odds makers boards, and some as high as 125/1.

Many US fans were left shaking their heads when the news broke that long time soccer great Landon Donovan would not be on this year's World Cup. The decision actually had many fans on Twitter and all social media taking shots at U.S. soccer coach Juergen Klinsmann.

Klinsmann said he picked the best players for the team and played no favorites when it came down to deciding the 2014 World Cup squad. However may fans of Donovan think it was a personal shot at the star. Either way, if the US shocks the world and makes the semi-finals or finals, not many people will be talking about the snub.
