San Antonio has the party spirit from April 10th to 27th for Fiesta Week.

It is the big annual celebration for the entire city and it generates millions for our local economy. Plus there are many charities that benefit from the variety of events as well.

The economic impact was studied during the Fiesta 2007 and it was found that money spent on admission, food, souvenirs, etc. generated over $284 million for the local economy. There is a direct increase in revenue to hotels, transportation, shops and restaurants.

It can be an expensive time for families that want to participate so here are a few events that help to keep it easy on the budget.

1. Free admission to Fiesta UTSA on April 11th from 11 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the UTSA Sombrilla. This event is on the main campus of UTSA and run by the student organizations. It features food, music and games. And there are over 31,000 students so this is a great way to support their efforts.

2. Fiesta Pooch Parade is April 26th from 8:00 am to 11:00 am at the Alamo Heights Swimming Pool. Family admission is $25 and that includes your furry family members also. Therapy Animal of San Antonio is sponsoring the event. Just get your pooch costume ready and enjoy the parade and activities.

3. Texas Corvette Association Car Show is April 26th and has free admission. It is located in Boerne at the Main Plaza from 8:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m. More than 350 cars are on display and you can enjoy live music plus there are prizes to win. The car show benefits St. Jude Ranch for Children.

Enjoy the Fiesta parties and parades. Have a fun, safe time.
