Fiesta Mexicana Bar & Grill, which has a downtown location on Fourth Avenue, has recently renovated and opened a long-time restaurant building in East Nashville at 3935 Gallatin Pike. These renovations include an exuberant and colorful decor which I enjoyed thoroughly while eating.
The Mexican food is very reasonably priced and includes a menu for vegetarian diners. There is a special lunch menu, along with daily specials. And, of course, no Mexican restaurant would be complete without the Margaritas. As a native Nashvillian, I am not well versed in the vocabulary of Mexican foods, so I ordered a steak Mexican torta from the lunch menu. This proved to be a healthy sandwich on the biggest hamburger bun I have ever seen. The contents proved to be pieces of steak mixed with onion, diced tomatoes, and green peppers - a truly lean and healthy sandwich. It was served with a side of cheesy (but not greasy) fries, with a container of ketchup for dipping. I really appreciated not having to wrestle with a ketchup bottle. Before the meal arrived, I was served the usual salsa and chips. This salsa had a bit of peppery bite, but was not too hot.
As I ate, I enjoyed the variety of the decor. Farm implements like plows, ox-yokes, and saws were displayed along with folk art plaques and lovely little convex painted street scenes. I have included a slideshow that includes an earthenware jar fountain, a whimsical birdcage, and a fish tank.
Neither Nashville location of Fiesta Mexicana Bar & Grill has a website, and no one appears to have reviewed their new East Nashville location. I am happy to welcome them into the area.
