Celebrate the bounty of Oregon farms and vineyards dining with Chef Pascal Chureau of Allium Bistro at his second annual Dinners in the Field series, by Field & Vine Events. The first dinner will feature a French/Dutch twist at Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm in Woodburn, Oregon on May 3, 2014

Chureau, who hails from the Bordeaux region of France, is teaming with Chef Willem Paul Klitsie, a native of the Netherlands and chef/owner of Willem's on Main in Vancouver, Washington and of the now-closed Fratelli in the Pearl District. They will collaborate on a seven-course meal of fresh seasonal ingredients from the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm. They welcome engaging with their guests as they cook over an open flame and serve the guests at communal tables set up on the farm. The meal is paired with beer and wine from nearby wineries and breweries.

The host farmer will give a tour of the locale, and join with the winemaker to describe more about the ingredients of the meal and producing the food and wine. The Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm dinner is one of several in the series that benefit the Oregon Farm Loop, supporting public educational activities about the farming community, including the Canby Area Farm Loop.

The tulips should still be in bloom for the May 3 dinner. Ross and Dorothy Iverson purchased the farm in 1950 and began growing tulips in 1974. Today, the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm Tulip Fest is a must-see spring destination, with colorful tulip fields extending to the horizon. The featured winemaker will be Hanson Vineyards of Woodburn.

Chureau is known for his Neighborhood Dinners and winemaker dinners at Allium Bistro in West Linn, Oregon. His Field & Vine Events catering company hosts events and parties throughout the area.

The cost for each dinner is $80 to $90 per person, which includes the dinner, wine, beer and gratuity. Tickets must be purchased in advance. In fair weather, the tables are set up outdoors so diners can enjoy the sights and sounds of the farm. If rain threatens, dinner is under a tent or in the barn.
