FIBA World Cup results were positive for Team USA on Sunday (Aug. 31). Playing against Turkey in their second game of group play, the United States had to work hard to overcome a halftime deficit. Team USA trailed 40-35 at halftime as Turkey did a great job slowing the game down. A lot of missed shots allowed Turkey to not only stay in the game but to take a lead that had to be a heavy topic of conversation during the halftime speeches. They worked, as Team USA out-scored Turkey 63-37 in the second half to win 98-77.
Kenneth Faried led the team with 22 points and eight rebounds, shooting 11-of-14 from the field. He was also a star on defense, notching three steals and two blocks. It was that defense that really kept the United States rolling in the second half. Stephen Curry had five steals of his own, James Harden had three, and Anthony Davis had two for the starters alone. Davis also chipped in 19 points and six rebounds, while Harden had 14 points and seven assists.
