Tavon Ludy, 24 of Madison County is behind bars in connection to the death of his fiance's 5-year old son who died on Sunday. Reportedly, a 911 call was reported from the 2100 block of Rose Knoll Lane due to a unresponsive toddler unable to breathe. Deputies arriving on the scene found Torian Whittaker, 5, lifeless. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. The 5-year old as well as his sibling, a 7-year old had been allegedly severely physically disciplined by Tavon who is believed to have punched Torian in the chest with so much force, causing him to collapse and die. Ludy has been charged with 2-counts of 1st Degree Murder and Aggravated Battery to a child. The child’s mother, Toria Coleman, 27, also faces child endangerment charges. Authorities say Coleman knew Lundy was physically disciplining the children. The 7-year-old is now in the custody of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services
Ludy’s bond has been set at $550,000, and Coleman’s bond is $50,000.
