The weekend is upon us.  Record high temperatures are keeping people indoors, so save for the beer festival, here are a few indoor festivals for the coming weekend:

  • Heritage Sandy Springs Beer Fest, Heritage Green.  Saturday, 4:00 PM.  Interested parties 21 years and older are invited to partake in a festival offering samples of 70 or more beers, local food and entertainment.  The event benefits Heritage Sandy Springs, Sandy Springs' 4-acre park.  Participating restaurants include Papa John's Pizza, Slope's BBQ, and Teela Taqueria.  For more information, select this link for an article with ticket information or visit HSSBeerFest.com
  • Bug Out Festival, Fernbank Museum.  Sunday, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM.  Visit Fernbank for another Bug Out Festival, complete with bug-themed activities: UGA Insect Zoo, Busy Bees, Bunch o' Bugs Counting Contest, Butterfly Puppet Factory, Entomology Lab and more.  The full list of activities is available at FernbankMuseum.org under the 97 Days (and Ways) to Play.  Participation is free with museum admission.  Look for more Bug Out Festivals August 29th and September 4th.
  • Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival, Fox Theatre.  Sunday, 1:00 PM and 6:30 PM.  Make way for the kids and the tweens/teens at the Fox Theatre this Sunday with screenings of Toy Story 3 and Twilight - Eclipse at 1:00 and 6:30 PM, respectively.  At $8.00 per ticket, viewing the films on the "biggest screen in Atlanta" should be quite a treat, especially at such a bargain price.  Don't forget to check out the pre-show featuring Sing-Alongs with Mighty Mo.  More information is available at FoxTheatre.org/CCFF2010.   Purchase tickets online, at a local Ticketmaster outlet, or at the Fox Theatre Box Office.

Enjoy the weekend and stay cool!
