Ferris State hockey team needs at least a split at MIchigan Tech

It's been many years since Ferris State's hockey team made the long trip to the snowy, cold environment of Houghton, Mich., and Michigan for a hockey series.
Now that the two teams are members of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, the Bulldogs are making that trip this weekend. Chances are they'll see snowbanks get higher and higher the closer they get to Tech. Chances are, Ferris players will see temperatures plummet as they get closer and closer to Houghton.
This will not be an easy series, obviously. The Bulldogs had a pair of one-goal victories against Michigan Tech two weekends ago in Big Rapids. Ferris State has 26 points after 16 games in the WCHA standings for first place. They lost a series to Minnesota State last weekend, showing how vulnerable the Bulldogs are. But they still have two games up on Minnesota State and can protect their lead against the Huskies, who are 5-7-4 in the league.
But it will be a tough series. Outside the arena in Houghton, the weather is likely to be awful But inside, hopefully the Bulldogs will feel the warmth of a WCHA victory, not just one night but two.
