Racing News Network reported today (Aug. 25,2013) that Ferrari is set to unveil its Ferrari 458 Speciale at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. The Frankfurt Motor show is one of the largest, oldest (116 years) and most prestigious motor shows in the world and Ferrari doesn’t want to disappoint with what it has to offer.
Ferrari aimed to add more power and excitement to one of the world’s best production cars.
Ferrari’s engineers have managed to squeeze another 34 more horsepower from the 458's naturally aspirated V8 bringing final power numbers 597 horsepower and 398 lbs-ft of torque. All that power is enough to propel this Italian Stallion to 60 in three seconds flat.
Pininfarina also had a hand in improving active aerodynamics making this one of the most aerodynamic Ferrari’s to date.
In addition, a new Side Slip Angle Control system analyzes the Speciale’s slip angle, compares it to a target figure and then optimises torque management via the traction control system and torque distribution between the two wheels.
According to Ferrari,
“The Speciale is designed to boost performance and driving emotion to unprecedented levels, yet simultaneously guarantee smooth, effortless control in all kinds of situations”
We look forward to Ferrari’s newest derivation of the 458 and are curious to what the other supercar manufacturers bring out to outshine and outgun this Italian.
