Ferrari 360 Spider totaled

The Ferrari 360 Spider shown below was totaled recently overseas around 6 pm. The Ferrari was traveling around 250 km/h when it lost control, and slid sideways into a tree. There was only one occupant in the vehicle, and was released "OK" from the hospital. It is truly amazing to see a Ferrari stand up to the engineering challenge of a high speed accident. Typically when cars hit trees at these speeds, everyone in the vehicle is dead. This goes to show that by spending a little more money it is possible to have a safer vehicle. Should the driver had the same accident in a more cost effective convertible, the outcome surely would have been fatal.

Looking at the video footage below, you can see just how bad the wreckage is. Not much is left of the Ferrari, and you can tell by looking at the accident evidence that this was a high speed collision with a tree. The lay of the land suggests it was midway through a long corner, and the driver lost traction. Over correcting into the ditch, the Ferrari soon met it's match when a tree decided to interrupt the race. It's unfortunate when these things happen, but luckily everyone was okay.
