Fergie on drugs and crystal meth: 'It ruins you'

What's not to love about singer Stacy Ann Ferguson? The Black Eyed Peas leading lady, better known as "Fergie", recently gave another quote of nobility when she opened up about her past drug use with crystal meth saying, "It ruins you".

The singer who's been clean for over 10 years says she still reaps judgement on her past decisions but that's not stopping her from speaking out.

"For me, it's something I went through," says the star. "It's an epidemic, and it's important to talk about it because it's a very, very hard thing to stop."

Even though Fergie says her "publicists get really mad" for her choice to open up about the use, she relentlessly tells about her struggle to keep others from doing the same.

In an interview with the Times of London, Ferge spilled on her battle with drugs, starting first with ecstasy. 

"It started with ecstasy. I loved ecstasy. Loved it, loved it. It was great at first, then it just went...." the star paused mid-sentence before telling the pitfall of her drug use.

The 34-year-old singer told the Times she struggled with deep periods of paranoia and anxiety, blacking out the windows in her apartment and fooled by the drugs to think she was being tracked by the FBI. 

Fergie admitted to having delusions, crazy conversations with a laundry hamper and being held at gun point as she scoured the streets of LA for drugs. 

"It ruins you," she said simply of a complicated situation.

Of her criticism and nudges from PR professionals to keep her situation under wraps, Fergie says it's hard to walk the fine line of doing what's right after you've blatantly done wrong. 

"I'm trying to get a thicker skin. I like to be aware of people's perceptions of me, but when you put it as a priority, as a means to judging your worth, that's when it can be dangerous," she says.

"There's no rule book on how to do this," she continues.
