‘Feral Cat Mafia’ apparel introduced

To make a tongue-in-cheek statement while raising money for charity, a feline advocate has introduced “The Feral Cat Mafia," a new line of apparel and other items aimed at feral cat lovers.

The products are sold online and contain a bold-type “Feral Cat Mafia” banner similar to that of "The Godfather," the American crime film.

"This is my response to those who promote the longstanding witch-hunt against free-roaming cats -- all the while claiming to, themselves, be the subject of persecution from 'the feral cat mafia,’” wrote Vox Felina’s Peter Wolf, whose blog often critiques proponents of trapping and killing feral cats.

The product line includes t-shirts, hoodies, tote bags and art prints. Other items are to be added soon.

Wolf said all proceeds will benefit FixNation, a charity that runs a low-cost, full-time, feral cat spay/neuter clinic in Los Angeles. Wolf serves on the organization's board.

Wolf, who announced the product line April 1, wrote April 6 that the response to its introduction “has been overwhelmingly positive.”
