Bagua map is one of the basic Feng Shui tools, which helps to determine where specific areas of the house are located. With the help of the Bagua map one can find out where an area responsible for a certain life aspect is located within a house or a room. However, different Feng Shui schools have different approaches towards using it on practice.

Bagua map according to New Age Compass school of Feng Shui

The Bagua map divides a premise into 9 areas. Each of such zones is responsible for a separate aspect of life. Here is how Bagua map areas are located according to the New Age Compass school of Feng Shui:

1. North – Feng Shui career area.
2. South-West – Feng Shui love and romance area.
3. East – Feng Shui family and marriage area.  
4. South-East – wealth and prosperity area.
5. The center – Feng Shui health area.
6. North-West – Feng Shui area of mentors and helpful people.
7. West – Feng Shui zone of children and creativity.
8. North-East – knowledge and wisdom area.

Bagua map according to Black Hat school of Feng Shui

Black Hat school of Feng Shui is the newest one, and used different principles for defining Bagua areas. It determines the location of each area based on the position of the entrance door:

• The corner to the left of the entrance door is considered knowledge area.
• The middle of this wall – career area.
• The corner to the right - mentors and helpful people area.
• Middle of the wall on the left – family area.
• Rear left corner – wealth area.
• Rear middle – fame and success.
• Rear right – love area.
• Middle right – children and creativity.
• Center – health area.

So, according to the teaching of Black Hat school, having entered a room you are standing in the career area, success area is in front of you, and so on.
