A woman was shot during what appeared to be a road rage incident early Monday morning in Tucker.
The shooting happened around 1 a.m. in a shopping plaza at 4357 Lawrenceville Hwy. before the wounded woman was driven a couple miles to a gas station on Jimmy Carter Boulevard in Gwinnett County, according to DeKalb County police.
Investigators said the woman and her boyfriend were traveling in a vehicle on Lawrenceville Highway when another vehicle raced up behind them.
“The complainant reported the vehicle traveled aggressively behind and beside them so he stopped his vehicle in the parking lot on Lawrenceville Hwy,” police spokeswoman Ms. Mekka Parish said. “The female driver exited her vehicle and walked up to the passenger side door and shot the female passenger twice then fled the scene driving a white Honda possibly Accord with tinted windows.”
The complainant then drove the victim to the parking lot in Gwinnett County and called 911 for assistance, Ms. Parish said.
EMS responded and transported the woman to the hospital for treatment. Police have not released her identity and her condition was unknown Monday afternoon.
Police are still searching for the shooter.
