Female boxer Ana "The Hurricane" Julaton regains WBO crown (video)

Female boxer Ana Julaton, 29, has redeemed herself with a win over Maria Ellena Villalobos from Mexico in the co-main at “Rumble at the Rama XII” in Ontario, Canada on Wednesday while also regaining the WBO crown after her loss to Lisa Brown last March.

“Thank you to everyone,”Julaton said in her post-fight interview. “This is a great boxing town for female fighting. I’ve got to give it up to Villalobos… she’s very tough!”

Julaton is the first female Filipino-American boxer to win world titles and dominatie the super bantamweight division as evident once again in her earning a split decision victory over Villalobos last night.

While both fighters stayed active throughout all ten rounds, Julaton seemed more aggressive which resulted in the three judges scoring the bout in Julaton’s favor with 94-97, 96-94, 96-94 and awarding her the WBO female super bantamweight world title.

Ana Julaton was knocked down in 3rd round. She was not the more aggressive fighter. Check your stats- she won by split decision not unanimous- and it was a bad decision. The crowd boo'd her when decision was read. She should become a more solid fighter and quit getting titles by favoritism or by fighting boxers who were too old and ring rusty- total fraud

Stargazer, you may want to re-read the article. I wrote 'split decision victory. I am sorry you are not happy with the outcome of the bout. But don't take it out on me. I only stated the facts.

Ummm, it was a slip and Villalobos said she felt she needed a knockout in the late rounds to win the fight. Tell tell sign that the judges made the right decision.

your scorecards are wrong- and obviously Maria knew she needed a knockout- because of hometown cooking- you can state it anyway you want to- Maria Elena Villalobos - IS THE CHAMPION without the crown- Julaton- is the gal who picks her apponents and was actually shocked that this one could fight so well.- Freddy Roach is right- she needs more work (Julaton)

    Stargazer,
those are not my score cards, but the ones published everywhere else. Looks like you will have to take it up with the Ontario Boxing Commission.

my last comment- the last scorecard 97-94 is for villalobos not julaton- yikes -sports writer?
