Marouane Fellaini has been cleared of a charge that the Manchester United midfielder spat at Manchester City’s Pablo Zabaleta during last week’s derby match.

The Football Assocation confirmed that the big Belgian will face no punishment.

“After studying all the available footage, the FA have decided there is no case to answer for Marouane Fellaini,” the FA statement read.

The incident followed an elbow to Zabaleta in the first half that saw Fellaini go into the official’s book. Zabaleta was lying on the ground when it was alleged to have happened.

If Fellaini would have been charged, it would have resulted in a three-match ban.
