It’s normal to feel somewhat exposed to illnesses in winter but there are ways to keep yourself supported through this colder season.

First on the list – get your sleep! Try setting an alarm to get you off to bed at an earlier time. Make it a habit and you’ll reap the rewards.

Second – Tend to your gut health. Over 70% of your immune function is in your digestive system. Make sure your diet is full of colorful non-processed foods. Try taking probiotics or better yet add fermented and probiotic foods to your diet. They’ll activate your immune system and help build a healthier you.

Third – Avoid the overuse of over the counter medications such as ibuprofen, naproxen or aspirin. They can cause problems in the intestinal lining.

Fourth – Wash hands and avoid anti-bacterial soaps. Washing and drying your hands thoroughly seems like a small thing but it’s actually one of the best things you can do to stay healthy. Normal hand soap is just as effective and add a nail brush to your routine for added benefits.

Fifth – Watch your stress load. Remember to check in with yourself during the day to see how stress is affecting you. There are many ways to take just a few minutes and let go of the burden stress puts on your immune system. Try 10 deep breaths and take just a minute to recharge. Try these breathing exercises.
