“Welcome home,” said Rod, one of Silversea Cruises’ Silver Spirit’s bartenders as we walked into The Bar on the first night of our seven-day cruise from Fort Lauderdale to San Juan, Puerto Rico. And that’s exactly how we felt boarding this small luxury liner for the third time.

The warm, welcoming spirit of Siversea is just one of its charms. The all-suite ship boasts a international complement of discerning seafarers, many who have ailed several times and many days with the innovative all-inclusive line. Like us, they appreciate the recognition and hospitality as well as the fine food, free wines and upscale, but comfortable ambiance.

The Silver Spirit shines as good as ever with over-sized, sparkling clean accommodations, a friendly staff, amiable captain, Mino Pontillo, and amenities galore. We love the pool deck, spa with coed steam and sauna that help enhance the top-notch head to toe treatment menu, well put together fitness center, the fun casino, bars (especially The Bar where everybody gathers before dinner), lounges and the piece résistance restaurants where you can dine whenever and with whomever you want.

Our embarkation dinner last night in La Terrazza was as good as it gets from the starter beef Carpaccio to the fresh sea bass, perfectly ripe cheese plate and pastries (not to mention free, liberally-poured wines.

This morning, following a good night’s sleep on Pratesi linens that covers a kin-size bed we headed out to the deck for a double cappuccino followed by a refreshing swim in the pool . Then we went back to our suite for breakfast on our private balcony served by our butler Marcial who hails from the Philippines (and also served us up special pillows, toiletries, stocked our in-suite bar and well, too care of all requests).

It’s the good life with six more days ahead that will include stops at Grand Turk, Samana, St. Barths and Philipsburg before the Cinderella-like cruise comes to an end in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The Silver Spirit debuted in 2009. She has 11 decks and can carry 540 passengers. Come back for more about this magical cruise.
