Feeling Better: Inside & Out

Year round we work hard. We have our moments of happiness filled with pride and other times we feel sad due to failure or disappointment. We all go through it and so does our mood. There are definitely days when we need a pick-me-up, and I am not just talking about caffeine. A self confidence boost is needed sometimes because it encourages us to keep going and do even better. Here are tips that can motivate us to strengthen our moods and feel great.

Drink more water – This is a must, whether you are a health-nut or not. You will stay hydrated; your skin will keep its moisture and your digestive system will constantly cleanse itself.
Thirty minutes of ‘me’ time – Doing things we love remind us that life is not so bad. The things we enjoy, makes us enjoy life itself. We need ‘me’ time at least thirty minutes every day. This can include watching your favorite show, exercising, reading, taking a relaxing bath or even doing a loved hobby.

Take vitamins – Our bodies obtain most of our vitamins from the food we eat but not all has the nutrients we need. Vitamins really do affect our mood if we are without and can be easily taken for a quick fix. They are often also good for our digestive system, skin, hair, nails, and more.

Get sleep – Let’s face it, it can be extremely difficult to get 8 hours or more of sleep. Especially if you’re going to school, busy with work, or just stressed out enough to where the brain does not give you a break. 8 hours are ideal, but getting at least 6 hours is more realistic. Taking naps are recommended.

Looking our best – The saying is true, ‘we should not care what people think’; that includes our appearance. But we still wear clothes we like, do our hair and makeup. The way we dress still helps us feel good, regardless of the opinions of others. Part of it is being the individual that we are; expressing ourselves is a must. Sometimes we even dress to impress for events, but it increases our pride and happiness.

Smile – Just like looking our best, smiling helps boost our mood. We must look on the bright side and remind ourselves that there are plenty of reasons to still smile, even if it’s a bad day. Smiling shares each individual’s beauty. This also applies to laughing!

Relax – Our minds wander, sometimes a little too much. Issues drag us down when we know they shouldn't. Stress often takes over daily as well. We need to remember to just breathe. Everything always turns out okay, so there is not a reason to freak ourselves out as much as we do.

I hope we can remember these on a daily basis. It is important to. I admit, it can be hard work depending on our bad day or mood, but they really do help.
