Are you looking for a special treat to take your honey for Valentine’s Day? Or do you and your friends want something else to do instead checking out a club? Stand-up comedian and actor D.L. Hughley will be gracing the stage along with Arie Spears and J.J. at the Murat Theatre. It’s called the Instant Tax Comedy Jam on February 14 at 5 and 8 p.m. That means you bust a gut laughing and then have the rest of the evening for romance or a girls’ night out. Prices for the show range from $24.99 to $34.99. Although this hilarious group of comics has adult-themed performances, this particular show will be for all ages.
For those who are not familiar with D.L. or Darryl Lynn Hughley, coming to one of his shows will introduce you to the man and his life. His jokes poke fun at daily life and don’t leave any subject untouched. He has been in the business of comedy for nearly two decades. He was the original host of Comicview, a stand-up comedy program on BET from 1992 to 1993. He wrote, produced and starred in a television sitcom series called the Hughleys. He was a member of the hit movie The Original Kings of Comedy with fellow comedians Cedric the Entertainer, the late great Bernie Mac and Steve Harvey. He hosted of the 2008 BET Awards. He’s had roles on Scrubs and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. For a short time, Hughley hosted and wrote a comedic news show which covered large-scale happenings in politics, entertainment, sports, and pop culture, named D.L. Hughley Breaks the News on CNN. Most recently, he is an on-air radio personality on The D.L. Hughley Morning Show which began July 20, 2009. It airs from 6 to 10 a.m. on the popular 98.7 Kiss FM in New York City.
Arie Spears is a man of many voices. He can impersonate the rappers DMX, Jay-Z, LL Cool J, & Snoop Doggy Dog, heavyweight boxer Mike Tyson, actor Denzel Washington, and many more. He’s also an actor and has been in films such as The Pest, Jerry Maguire, and Out of Sync.
Jeremiah “J.J.” Williamson is another comedian and actor has been featured in Def Comedy Jam, BET Comicview and Jamie Foxx Presents Laffapalooza. He also was in the movie Johnson Family Vacation.

I met D.L. Hughley when I was in elementary school. I went with my mother to this work conference where I used to pick up all this free stuff. And when we were in a ceramics shop (at the time, we were both painters) he walked by us. I stopped him and said, "Are you a comedian?" He said, "Yes." Then my mother started talking to him about ceramics and I stood there giggling like a goofball. Then I burst out and said, "You are so cute." He kinda blushed and said, "Thank you. You are too." I never forgot that. He can be mean as hell onstage, but he's very friendly and approachable in person. That dark mark on his cheek gives him a little edge, and it makes him cuter.
