Thursday a 24 year-old Philadelphia man was indicted in federal court for a credit card skimming scheme that targeted patrons at a Montgomery County restaurant. The indictment charged Darnell Greene with conspiracy, access device fraud and aggravated identity theft.

The accused allegedly provided a credit card skimmer machine to a former California Pizza Kitchen employee, Jasmine Crowder, as well  another unidentified suspect.  The restaurant employees allegedly skimmed information off the Visa, Master and American Express Cards and then gave the information to Greene.

In all, 26 credit card accounts were compromised when the information was transferred to counterfeit cards. Purchases were made with the phony cards in the amount of $44,284.99 in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

The scheme was uncovered when an American Express fraud investigator told police that he believed the phony accounts involved transactions at the Plymouth Meeting restaurant.

The US Secret Service, the Plymouth Meeting and Abington Township police as well as the Philadelphia Police Department were all involved in the investigation. It will be prosecuted by Assistant US Attorney James R. Pavlock.
