Mira Health of Farmingdale, NY has closed its doors. They are done,” stated attorney, Marc Ullman of Garden City, who has been representing the company throughout a federal investigation that found it guilty of selling vitamins and other supplements “tainted” with anabolic steroids including dimethyltesterone, methasterone anf dimethazine.
Not only have these steroids been found to cause liver damage and dramatic increase in cholesterol levels, but they can also cause enlarged breasts in men, as well as well s facial hair and masculine characteristics in women.
Mira Health Products first became under suspicion in late July after B-50 vitamins as well as Vitamin C and multivitamin pills sold by client Purity First Health Ltd. were recalled by the FDA. At the time, 29 illnesses were reported as direct results of ingesting the products. More have been confirmed since then (see http://www.examiner.com/article/dangerous-anabolic-steroids-found-vitami...).
Although Mira is now officially out of business, Shelly Burgess of the FDA said that the federal investigation into their practices will continue, and advises consumers who have taken supplements manufactured by the company to check the FDA’s website to keep abreast of any actions the agency ends up taking against them.
In the meantime, Purity’s website and phone lines have been shut down, despite claims by owner Candice Tripp (who runs the company from her East Northport home) that “all her vitamins were of high quality.”
