Federal Court Bars Obamacare Contraception Mandate For N.Y. Catholic Groups

The walls of Obamacare are beginning to collapse around the administration as yet another wound is inflicted against the ill-conceived healthcare plan. Monday, a federal judge in New York ruled that a collection of Catholic educational and health organizations do not have to comply with the president’s Affordable Care Act’s contraception mandate.

U.S. District Judge Brian Cogan made the determination that Catholic organizations that are not required to, “provide their employees with contraception coverage, according to Business Week. This appears to be a clear triumph for religious employers who have been insisting that Obama and his administration had been stripping away their religious freedom by insisting they follow the contraception mandate.

The Obama administration attempted to neutralize religious organization as well as business organization owners’ freedom. Many groups and businesses like Hobby Lobby have been fighting back. Currently Hobby Lobby is fighting its case for religious freedom against Obamacare and the Obama administration before the U.S. Supreme Court.

According to Life News Hobby which could have its business destroyed if it complied with the Health and Human Services Obamacare mandate is literally fighting for its corporate life. “The Obama administration is attempting to compel religious companies to pay for birth control and abortion-causing drugs for their employees,” according to Life News

Where is the line drawn for religious organizations or owners who practice their religious faith when it comes to condoning murder in the womb? For Obama, who supports abortion, it now appears that there are no U.S. Constitutional boundaries he is not afraid to cross.

Yet for the present, several Catholic organizations like Catholic Health Services of Long Island, Catholic Health Care System, Monsignor Farrell High School and Cardinal Spellman High School are safe from a mandate that would force them to abdicate their religious beliefs, suggests Business Week.
