Federal budget cuts could affect Florida residents

The upcoming budget cuts could have a major effect on Florida jobs.

Defense contractors in Florida could take the hardest hit. Joe Marino, president of the Florida League of Defense contractors said the budget cuts could mean a loss of 40,000 defense related jobs and another 40,000 jobs from vendors, according to an article by William Gibson in the February 24 Sun Sentinel.

"I think this is going to be a problem. We need to have a strong military to protect our nations. And these jobs that are going to be cut are important to individuals and the economy as a whole," said Brian Togerson, a Miami resident.
