On Monday, Summerville, SC councilman Walter Bailey proposed an ordinance which will require anyone renting a home to state whether or not they are in the country legally. Bailey received support for the measure from another member of the council, during a committee meeting.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports that Bailey says the feds are not doing their job when it comes to immigration enforcement, and is ready to act at the local level.
Bailey said he is tired of illegal aliens taking jobs from citizens, and believes the measure would provide some relief to the growing unemployment rate.
The proposal will be considered during Wednesday’s council meeting.
In 2008, South Carolina passed a bill, which at the time, was the toughest immigration enforcement legislation in the nation. The measure requires businesses to verify the legal status of their employees, and made transporting and harboring illegal aliens a crime.
In April, South Carolina lawmakers drew up legislation similar to Arizona’s SB1070. The bill will be taken up when they reconvene in January.

For the second time, another federal judge has declared a Farmers Branch ordinance banning illegal immigrants from renting in the city to be unconstitutional.
Will the DOJ sue Summerville, SC? And the many other cities that have implemented Phonix-like laws? I've wondered why Arizona has to bear the brunt of this ire alone? I think it's because Arizona is the gateway for the invasion, and our government would do anything to keep 'em coming...votes and cheap labor, that's what counts now. Not the American people.
Thanks South Carolina for joining the fight against illegal immigration. June, Arizona may be (one of) the gateways fgor this invasion, but make no mistake that it affects EVERY American citizen across this country. Approximately 1200+ illegals cross our borders weekly while oblahblah REFUSES to secure our borders putting ALL Americans on the firing line to face higher taxes, higher crime rates, unemployment, and carrying the burden of public services subsidized by our tax dollars. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!
The big issue regarding the Arizona law is that it allows police officers to add an additional charge of trespassing under SB1070 if they are in the US illegally. States are able, under the 10th Amendment to define what constitutes a trespass. Federal law, specifically USC Section 8, already allows police officers to arrest illegal aliens, so the DOJ really does not have a legal argument and I expect their lawsuit will be dismissed. Maybe not at the trial level, where the sitting judge is a Clinton opinion, but certainly on appeal and definitely at the SCOTUS level.
I believe that the Farmer's Branch ruling will be overturned on appeal. The big question here is, while the DOJ is suing Arizona over a law designed to enhance federal enforcement and make the feds jobs easier, why aren't they suing the sanctuary cities and states that are contradictory to federal law and violating the Supremacy Clause? Because -0- is looking forward to all those undocumented Democrats voting for him

God Bless..South Carolina; and all the other states that are standing up beside Arizona in defiance of the Federal Attack on States Rights !!
PS...dont believe Rick Perry, Gov of Texas.. in my opinion he is a Big Liar and a long time supporter of Mexico's Corruption.
He just got through lying, about supposedly "supporting" Arizona by not wanting them denied money from conventions!!??
OH Yea???...I guess he wants us all to forget that he just did a performance at a recent LA RAZA convention, where he is quoted as saying that "Immigration Enforcement is just too impossible because there are too many of them, and besides that (he said)...we just dont want to do that because Texas has too strong a relationship with such a Strong Border Partner like Mexico!!???"
He is such a... Piece of Politician. I wonder how these people can sleep at night!!?? Every man has an opportunity to say NO... to Greed and Corruption!? Rick Perry has an obligation, to answer for his actions!
BETWEEN A.C.L.U. LARAZA AND MEXICO ? ALSO AMERICAN JUDGES AND COURTS ENCOURAGING THIS ILLEGAL INVASION.WOULD BE NICE IF THE AMERICAN COURT AND JUDGES WOULD PROTECT AMERICA FROM THIS BUT NO JUST THE OPPOSITE? ANOTHER REAL AMERICAN PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG? A LEGAL AMERICAN CITIZEN>> OBAMA CANNOT SAY THAT???
All elected officials in every state at every level -- please have the courage to do what is right and just -- protect the people who are legally allowed to elect you, not the ones who chose to enter the US illegally, work here illegally, take jobs from Americans, and commit crimes against them! HAVE THE COURAGE TO MAKE IT A VERY INHOSPITABLE ENVIRONMENT FOR ILLEGALS TO WORK, LIVE...BE!!! CUT OFF THE JOB CONNECTION AND THEY WILL SELF DEPORT. It's long overdue!
