February is known for being the month for lovers. Valentine’s Day is a tribute to couples everywhere, married or not. A hip-hip-hooray, good job, and a hefty pat on the back for those happy couples.
You don’t need a significant other to be complete. One of the most rewarding roles for a person to have is that of being a parent. When two people have a loving, positive relationship, that makes for a great foundation for raising a child. When there is nothing but disagreements, arguments, insults, not to mention domestic violence, sometimes sticking it out isn’t an option; especially in the name of being a good parent. A single parent is better than two grossly dysfunctional parents. The most important thing is that your child, or children, grow up with your love, support, and full attention. If you can’t provide that you really need to consider what your reasons are for wanting to be a parent.
There is nothing set in stone saying that we need to be with someone else or be a parent to make ourselves complete. It takes a wide diversity of people to make the world go round.
So, we have February, the month for lovers married or not, and also Valentine’s Day on February 14th dedicated to the same. You don’t need to have another, uh, half so to speak to be complete.
February is also ‘National Laugh-Friendly Month’. We all can and should laugh and be friendly whether we have a significant other or not. February 8-14 is ‘Love Makes the World Go Round but Laughter Keeps Us from Getting Dizzy Week.’ So, so true. Actually, laughter makes the world go round. February 10-16 is ‘Random Acts of Kindness Week.’
Let’s go on the flipside of Valentine’s Day for days in the month of February. February 11th is ‘Satisfied Staying Single Day’, February 13th is ‘Madly in Love with Me Day’, and February 14th, yes, ‘Valentine’s Day’, is also ‘National Call in Because You Are Single Day.’ Try to get that one past the boss!
Whether you have a significant other or are single just appreciate you for being you. Being a good daughter or son, aunt or uncle, grandma or grandpa, or just a good friend, is a great accomplishment in life.
