February Fun on Cape Cod at Cotuit Center for the Arts

For a break from the winter doldrums Cotuit Center for the Arts offers two choices-an intimate evening of Sartre at the new Botello Black Box or some of the great music of Sondheim in the main theatre. They even have some music, art and wine to break up the middle of the week in the middle of the month.

Side by Side by Sondheim This February on Cape Cod
There’s nothing like the music of Stephen Sondheim to lift those late winter blues. A musical review, this show includes songs from old favorites like West Side Story, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and A Little Night Music, just to name a few.

Side by Side by Sondheim runs Thursdays through Sundays from February 3 through 20, on the main stage at Cotuit Center for the Arts. Show times are Thursday through Saturday at 8pm, with Sunday matinees starting at 2pm.

Sartre’s No Exit at Cotuit Center for the Arts in February
The 25 seat Botello Black Box, a new theatre space at Cotuit Center for the Arts, makes its debut with a Theatre Under the Stairs production of Jean-Paul Sartre’s No Exit. Considered by many to be Sartre’s best play, No Exit features three complete strangers, all recently deceased, locked in a room for eternity.

No Exit runs from Friday to Sunday, February 4 through 20, with Friday and Saturday night performances at 8pm and Sunday matinees at 2pm.

Wine and Music Wednesdays at Cotuit Center for the Arts on Cape Cod
The popular Wine and Music Wednesday programs are back for 2011. In February, enjoy the music of Ensemble Passacaglia and an exhibit of the works of Elshafei Dafalla Mohamed adds, while sipping this month’s wine selection from Grain and Vine Spirit Shoppe in Hyannis. This month’s event is on February 16, from 6-7:30 pm. Tickets at the door, ID is required.

Great article, but I do not understand the concept of "winter doldrums?" I guess that must be when it is cold and there is no snow on the ground.

For those who are not like Ted, who lives for cross country skiing, winter doldrums are a real problem. The dark and cold are brightened by the Arts community here on the Cape. Cotuit Center for the Arts is a great place to forget that winter is here.
