Here is a reminder from Elisabeth Hudgins that Northern Virginia Art Center is in gear for an exciting February. I am coming to review the art as it has been several months since I have covered the new art gallery.
I know most of the artists first hand and they are terrific. Forty artists producing several new pieces a week and that means at least 6,240 pieces of new artwork per year. That is a lot to consume and appreciate. Therefore, when these new exhibits open with the artists present, it is a treasure to meet and greet them personally.
You can use my line, “Tell me about work.” That is how you learn what they are all about.
“Exhibit: Inside/Outside
Dates: February 4 - March 2, 2013
Cost: FREEBaby, it's cold outside… but inside the Northern Virginia Art Center, things are heating up with the exhibit of Inside/Outside. Artists interpret this theme in many ways… Inside might be a still life painting, Outside a landscape. For artist Marina DiCarlo, the inside of the body is the inspiration for each of her intricate abstract paintings. For the 3-dimensional artists pieces put inside a kiln do wonderful things to the outside of their ceramics or glass.
