On February 4, Albuquerque’s Sunshine Theater presents Overkill, Torture Victim, Suspended, Requiem Mass, and The Conjuring. Doors for this 13+ show open at 7 p.m., with the show kicking off at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15.
Around since 1980, Overkill play thrash metal. One of the best-kept secrets of good thrash is that it is more about the rhythm section that the guitars. Overkill knows this secret well, as their rhythm section is relentless, with solid percussive bursts and a thumping woofer sure to make ears bleed. And yes, the guitars continue to rip, building off the bass and drums with unbridled fury. The band’s latest full-length studio CD is titled The Electric Age.
Hailing from Albuquerque, Torture Victim describe themselves as follows: “An in-your-face extreme-metal assault.” The band has been working on a new CD and expects to release it soon.
The Queens of Thrash Metal, Suspended have certainly given New Mexico a nosebleed. The trio comprised of bassist/vocalist Melynda Montano, guitarist Amanda Castillo, and drummer Channing Concho have been executing their aggressive thrash attack since 2003, while they were still in high school. The band’s debut album is titled Prelude to Indignance.
Albuquerque’s Requiem Mass play blistering metal with progressive touches. The band’s latest CD is titled The Cure.
Albuquerque’s The Conjuring play a combination of thrash and traditional metal. The band counts as influences Savatage, Death, and Slayer.
The Sunshine Theater is located in downtown Albuquerque at 120 Central Avenue SW. Get further details by calling 505-764-0249.
