The 100th day of school for Los Angeles Unified School District public schools (and most private schools in the area) is Monday, Feb. 3, and that's the date that their school project are due where they bring in 100 things and show how big 100 is.

In the past, school projects have always been unique: there were 100 photos of "interesting people," 100 flags from around the world, a book of 100 ways to be kind to others, 100 pennies designed in a row, 100 Fruit Loops glued to posterboard and much more.

Rio Vista Elementary School, Carpenter Charter, Valley View Elementary School and others had fascinating projects brought to campus to mark the occasion.

How many days are left? There are 80, and the last day of school this year is June 5, 2014.

Get involved in your PTA or PTSA, join your school site council, or just volunteer. You don't have to have a child in the school to volunteer, or be a business sponsor, or a community member volunteer.

Am I missing a school?

Also, this Monday is the first Meatless Monday for the school programs. (No, they don't take away the school lunches if parents don't pay, and this is a day to have a healthy lunch without meat!)
