Comedic superstar Rowan Atkinson is back in the British comedy spy-thriller film Johnny English Reborn. In this Johnny English sequel directed by Oliver Parker, we find the fearless unorthodox secret agent English is in the mountains of Tibet. After the last mission fiasco in Mozambique, the former intelligence officer had been dismissed from her Majesty’s Secret Service MI7. With the help of the Tibetan guru Ting Wang, English is now learning martial arts and seeking a new life.
However when her Majesty calls, English is ready for action and a chance at redemption. He heads off to London and meets with the new head of MI7, Pamela Thornton (codenamed “Pegasus”), for his latest assignment. The mission is to stop a plot to assassinate the Chinese Premier during a heads of state conference with the Prime Minister. Although Pegasus thinks English is an embarrassment to British Intelligence, he is assigned to work with seasoned agent Simon Ambrose (codenamed “Agent One”) and junior agent Tucker. While behavioral psychologist Kate Sumner will assist English on the mission, MI7’s resident inventor Patch Quartermain supplies him with the latest hi-tech gadgets.
All set, English heads off to Hong Kong to meet with ex-CIA agent Titus Fisher where it is revealed that the powerful secret cabal of assassins called Vortex is behind the assassination attempt. They were also the ones who sabotaged English’s mission in Mozambique. Now the company of international assassins are after three keys that will unlock a powerful secret weapon to cause global chaos.
As English digs deeper, he unravels an inter-agency conspiracy that involves the CIA, KGB and even MI7. Even worse is there is a mole at MI7! With just days left until the big event and disaster following him at every turn, English must do what he knows best and use his unique skills to save the world once again. This time failure is not an option.
