From DreamWorks Animation comes the Academy Award-nominated computer-animated film Puss in Boots, a spinoff prequel to the Shrek franchise. It is directed by Shrek the Third’s Chris Miller, executive produced by Guiillermo del Toro and stars Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Bob Thornton and Amy Sedaris.
You loved the funny and charming Puss in Boots when he first appeared in Shrek 2. Now you can join him in his swashbuckling adventure to find the golden goose eggs and learn how he got his fame before he met Shrek and Donkey.
The story begins with Puss in Boots the outlaw on the run escaping a bounty hunter. He arrives at a town and learns that the outlaws Jack and Jill have the magic beans he has been looking for. When he attempts to steal it, his plan is thwarted by a masked cat who turns out to be Kitty Softpaws.
As it turns out, Kitty Softpaws is partnered with his long-estranged childhood friend Humpty Dumpty, who is also looking for the magic beans. The three agree to team up and manage to successfully steal them from Jack and Jill. Using the beans, they gain access to the castle in the sky where the Golden Goose lays the golden eggs. However, they must be careful as it is guarded by a fearsome monster called the Terror.
The three manage to find the golden eggs, but they are too heavy to carry. Changing plans, they steal the Golden Goose and escape. However, the victory celebration is cut short when Jack and Jill ambush the group and Puss in Boots is knocked unconscious.
When Puss in Boots wakes up, he tracks Jack and Jill back to his old hometown and realizes too late he had walked into a trap set up by the vengeful Humpty Dumpty who was still upset about a previously botched caper. As Puss in Boots is locked away in prison, the Terror comes to destroy the town and get back what was stolen. With everyone in danger, will Puss in Boots and Humpty Dumpty be able to put their past behind and save the day with the help of Kitty Softpaws before it is too late?
The DVD and Blu-ray releases contain deleted scenes and two featurettes: “Purr-fect Pairings” featurette that looks at the voices behind the legends; and “World of DreamWorks Animation.” The Double DVD Pack and Blu-ray include Puss in Boots: The Three Diablos animated short and additional features such as The Cat’s Meow: Kitten to Cat, Glitter Box Dance Off!, Klepto Kitty, Kitty Keyboard, Fairytale Pop-Up Book, Kitty Strikes Again and fun activities. Exclusively on Blu-ray is the featurettes: A DreamWorks Fairytale; Puss' Paw Pouncing Challenge; The Animator's Corner and Trivia Track. Finally, the Blu-ray 3D features the film in astounding eye-popping 3D.
