February 23: Launchpad welcomes Suspended, Weaponizer, and more

On February 23, Albuquerque’s own Launchpad welcomes Suspended, Weaponizer, Laughing Dog, Left to Rot, and Ronoso. Doors for this 21+ show are scheduled to open at 8 p.m., with the first band taking the stage at 9:00 p.m. Entry is only $5 but is subject to change at the door.

The Queens of Thrash Metal, Suspended have certainly given New Mexico a nosebleed. The trio comprised of bassist/vocalist Melynda Montano, guitarist Amanda Castillo, and drummer Channing Concho have been executing their aggressive thrash attack since 2003, while they were still in high school. The band’s debut album is titled Prelude to Indignance.

Colorado’s Weaponizer play what they like to call high-speed, blackened biker krust. Check out the band’s debut two-track self-titled EP at bandcamp.

Formed in the mid-1990s, Albuquerque’s Laughing Dog play a combination of grindcore and straight-on punk that they like to call “old town grind.” The band’s motto says it all: “Let the music speak.”

Formed in 2004, Left to Rot hail from Laguna, New Mexico. These dudes are known for their dense guitar rhythms, blast beats, and harsh vocals. The band’s debut EP is titled Bathe in Blood, which they followed up with the full-length studio CD Crown of Deception.

Albuquerque’s Ronoso play core—hard-, crust-, sludge-, and even some hyprocti-. Pick up the band’s self-titled CD at Astrozombies in Albuquerque or get a copy from Interpunk.

Around since 1997, Albuquerque’s Launchpad has played host to bands of numerous genres, including punk, indie rock, and metal. The Launchpad is located on 618 Central Avenue Southwest, which is between 6th and 7th streets.
