February 21, 2012 DVD & Blu-ray: 'Tower Heist' with Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy

From Brett Ratner, the director of the Rush Hour film series and X-Men: The Last Stand, comes the crime comedy film Tower Heist. Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy lead an all-star cast including Casey Affleck, Alan Alda, Matthew Broderick, Téa Leoni, Michael Peña and Gabourey Sidibe.

When Wall Street businessman Arthur Shaw runs a Ponzi scheme and swindles billions, luxury condo manager Josh Kovacs and his staff lose all their pension money. With their life savings gone, the workers decide they want payback. A tip from FBI Agent Claire Denham about some money hidden in Shaw’s penthouse apartment inspires them to devise a plan to steal back $20 million.

With no prior criminal history, Kovacs hires his petty criminal neighbor Slide to help train the team of amateur thieves. What is supposed to be a simple in-and-out heist turns complicated when they find the safe empty. With little time left, will the amateurs be able to find the money before Shaw becomes a free man and gets away with the perfect crime?

The DVD and Blu-ray are packed with special features. There are two alternate endings not seen in theaters, deleted and alternate scenes, a gag reel and feature commentary. Plus, the featurette “Plotting The Heist” discusses the conception of the project and reveals the secrets of the set design, special effects and more, including what it took to create the iconic sequence involving Steve McQueen’s car.
