From first time feature director and writer Sean Durkin comes the chilling psychological thriller Martha Marcy May Marlene starring Elizabeth Olsen in her feature film debut as the titular character Martha. Joining Olsen is Academy Award nominee John Hawkes and Golden Globe nominee Sarah Paulson.
After fleeing from a dangerous and abusive cult in New York's Catskills, a young woman named Martha calls upon her sister Lucy to help her reclaim her life. Although initially alarmed since Martha had been missing for two years, Lucy and her husband Ted welcome Martha into the family as she tries to assimilate back into society.
However, soon Martha’s past days as Marcy May in the cult led by the charismatic leader Patrick begin to haunt her. As her ability to distinguish between present and past deteriorates, she becomes increasingly paranoid and delusional. Fearing that Patrick is still watching her every move, she begins to realize it is not so easy to run away and nowhere is safe.
The DVD and Blu-ray have the featurette “Mary Last Seen.” Additionally, the Blu-ray has a load of extra features including a spotlight on actress Elizabeth Olsen, the story and making-of featurettes of the film, a conversation with the filmmakers, a look into the psyche of a cult and "Marcy's Song" music video by John Hawkes.
