We’re quite use to snow, ice, and cold in the Miami Valley during the winter months. February was certainly colder and snowier than usual, however. Last month brought 23.00 inches of snow to Dayton. That makes February 2010 the second snowiest February on record in Dayton! The snowiest February on record occurred back in 1910 when 31.6 inches of snow fell.
How does the 2009-2010 winter stack up overall? According to National Weather Service data, this winter has brought 38.00 inches of snow, making it the 20th snowiest on record. The snowiest winter on record was during the 1977-1978 winter when 62.7 inches of snow fell.
A warm-up is in store this week! Sunshine will return by Thursday and highs will warm into the upper 40s to low 50s heading late this week into next week!
