February 16: Studio 18 presents ‘Six Years of the Warrior Celebration’

On February 16, Farmington’s Studio 18 presents “Six Years of the Warrior Celebration,” featuring Paranormal Slaughter, Dark Awakening, Testify, and Rei-Gurren. Doors for this all-ages show open at 5 p.m., with the first band taking the stage at 6 p.m. Admission is $5. This show is sponsored by 18 Productions and Kandy Records.

Formed in 2008, Farmington’s Paranormal Slaughter play blackened death metal. The band is currently working on its debut CD, titled Shadows of Darkness. They also happen to run Studio 18, an underground venue based in Farmington that has attracted local, national, and even international talent.

Formed in 2012, Farmington’s Dark Awakening play a mix of doom and death metal, with the emphasis on aggression. The band is currently recording tracks, which they plan to post on its Facebook page.

From out of Coolidge, New Mexico, come Testify, whose sound hearkens to metal noise put out by bands such as Judas Priest, Metallica, and Iron Maiden. Be on the lookout for their CD, Code of Honor. Check out their sound at ReverbNation.

Formerly known as Five Cellars Below, Rei-Gurren play what they like to call anime-core. All their songs focus on anime, Godzilla, or video games.

Farmington’s Studio 18 is an up and coming venue that hosts concerts and has recording capabilities. The venue is located on County Road 5364, #18, just two miles east of the Sunray Park and Casino. Get details from Tyrell Lewis at 505-486-7470 or Brandon Tsosie at 505-716-6310.
