Cardiovascular disease is one of the major causes of death that plague women in today’s society. Heart attack and stroke are also major killers of today’s woman.

The American Heart Association and other agencies decided to combine together in 2003 to help raise awareness of how heart disease has increased as a health risk in women.

The National Heart Lung and Blood Institute introduced the red dress as a national symbol for women and heart disease awareness.

The American Heart Association adopted the red dress as a representation to create collaboration among all establishments to help be dedicated to finding a cure for these deadly diseases.
