From Frank Coraci, the director of Zookeeper and Click, comes the inspirational sports comedy film Here Comes the Boom. It stars co-writer Kevin James, Salma Hayek, Henry Winkler, Charice, Greg Germann, Gary Valentine, Reggie Lee and former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight Champion Bas Rutten.
42-year-old high school teacher Scott Voss has lost interest in his teaching job at the failing Wilkinson High School. However when budget cuts threaten to jeopardize both the music program and music teacher Marty’s job, Scott decides to do something about it out of concern for the students and his fellow teacher. At first he tries to raise $48,000 by teaching a citizenship class in the evening, but learns he can fast track it by moonlighting as a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter. With the help from his citizenship class student Niko, an ex-MMA fighter, former collegiate wrestler Scott begins to fight to raise money. Everyone thinks Scott is crazy when he arrives at school bruised and beaten, especially school nurse Bella, until his one-man journey inspires the entire school to rally together and make a difference.
The DVD and Blu-ray bonus features include 18 deleted scenes, a gag reel and “Here Comes the Cast,” a featurette on the star-studded cast. The Blu-ray also exclusively includes an additional five behind-the-scenes featurettes. “The Pros” gives fans a look at the real MMA fighters that appear in the film. “The Three Amigos” showcases the camaraderie of Mr. Voss’ training team - Rutten, Winkler and DellaGrotte - and the fun they had on set. “Back to School” is a peek at Winkler showing off his classroom. “Learning How to Fight” takes a look at James getting schooled in the world of MMA. Finally, “Gino Vs. Richie” chronicles a fun on-set challenge.
