Feb 1 2013, What to watch: 'Nikita', 'Spartacus', 'Portlandia', more

For Friday, February 1st 2013 LA TV Insider Examiner recommends:

Nikita (The CW, 8 p.m.) – “Survival Instincts” – Ray (guest star Matt Bushell), a rogue agent, kidnaps his girlfriend Kate (guest star Anna Hopkins), so Ryan (Noah Bean) dispatches the team to rescue her. Nikita (Maggie Q) is confused when Michael (Shane West) sends Owen into the field with her instead of going himself. Meanwhile, Sean (Dillon Casey) makes a decision about Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca).

Spartacus: War of the Damned (STARZ, 9 p.m.) – “Wolves at the Gate” – Spartacus (Liam McIntyre) launches a bold assault in order to procure food and shelter for his followers, while a formidable army rises, and a surprise visitor turns up.

Blue Bloods (CBS, 10 p.m.) – "Inside Jobs" – When a man with multiple rat bites is thrown from a moving car, Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) works the case to find out why and who was trying to send a message. Meanwhile, Frank (Tom Selleck) must be diplomatic when dealing with a bigoted radio host (guest star Mark Moses) who will be broadcasting from New York City.

Portlandia (IFC, 10 p.m.) – “The Temp” – Portland’s interim mayor (Roseanne Barr) hopes to turn the position into a full time job with the help of Fred (Fred Armisen) and Carrie (Carrie Brownstein). Later, Kath and Dave have problems finding seats at a restaurant, the Rats become authors, Joaquin’s friends get to the bottom of his disappearance, and town baristas devise a coffee-shop manifesto.

Merlin (Syfy, 10 p.m.) – “The Disir” – Three soothsayers order Arthur (Bradley James) to return to his old ways and legalize sorcery or else Camelot will suffer their wrath.
