For the fourth consecutive year, Best Friends Animal Society is sponsoring “Back in Black” – a nationwide campaign dedicated to increasing awareness and adoptions of black cats and dogs. This year’s campaign will run throughout the month of May. Click here to read more about this adoption campaign.

Good Mews Animal Foundation in metro Atlanta is one of the Best Friends’ No More Homeless Pets Network Partners that is participating in the “Back in Black” adoption promotion. Throughout the month of November you can adopt a black cat or a black and white cat for only $50. This a less than half of the regular $125 adoption fee and you will receive a goodie bag along with your new kitty.

Casanova is one of the many Good Mews cats available for adoption for a reduced fee during May. He is a two-year old black male domestic short hair kitty. The following is Casanova’s story from the Good Mews website:

Casanova is a lover, just like his name says. He loves people and attention more than anything else in this world. His motor will start running as soon as you pick him up. And as handsome as this guy is, who can resist him?

So how did such an awesome cat end up living outside? Your guess is as good as ours. While Casanova was living outside a nice lady was feeding him. She noticed he had hairless, bloody spots on his neck and back. She could not afford to take him to the vet, so she contacted Good Mews. We knew Casanova was probably very uncomfortable so we agreed to take him in and get him the vet care he needed. Turns out he had a bad allergy, possibly to fleas. After some medication, he is doing so much better and his beautiful hair is growing back in.

Now all Casanova needs is a loving home to call his own. He is not keen on living with a lot of cats, so he would prefer to be the single man in the home, or share it with one other friendly feline.

So come by and meet Casanova and see if he melts your heart like he does ours!

About Good Mews Animal Foundation

Good Mews is a cage-free, no-kill cat shelter offering an alternative to traditional animal shelters in the Metro Atlanta area. They provide a safe haven for homeless, abused, or abandoned cats until they can be placed in permanent, loving homes. Since 1988, Good Mews has placed over 7,000 cats in forever homes. The shelter receives no government support and relies solely on donations of time, services, goods and money from its many supporters and local businesses. Good Mews is home to approximately 100 residents on any given day – most of whom reside at the Shelter in Marietta, with some cats residing in foster homes.
