Robert De Niro's production company Tribeca Productions and major film studio The Weinstein Company will begin production on the feature film "Silver Linings Playbook" in October, 2011. The film's casting directors are auditioning principal actors in Los Angeles, and in Philadelphia where shooting will take place. The film's extras, stand-ins, and photo doubles are being cast in the greater Philadelphia area only.
"Silver Linings Playbook" is based on the novel by Matthew Quick and stars Bradley Cooper in the starring role of Pat Peoples. Star of "The Hunger Games" and Academy Award nominated actress Jennifer Lawrence co-stars as the tragically widowed and clinically depressed Tiffany. In addition to producing, Robert De Niro will also play one of the lead roles in the film. Tribeca Productions' co-founder Jane Rosenthal will also produce.
Academy Award nominated David O. Russell will direct "Silver Linings Playbook" from an adopted screenplay that he wrote himself. Russell has directed such films as "Three Kings," "The Fighter," and the recently completed political comedy "Nailed" starring Jessica Biel and Jake Gyllenhaal. He has also directed three different actors in Oscar-nominated performances: Christian Bale, Melissa Leo and Amy Adams.
