Sony Pictures in association with Overbrook Entertainment are set to begin production on the major sci-fi epic thriller feature film "After Earth" which had previously been titled "1000 A.E." Shooting will take place in Philadelphia and some out of town locations through mid May, 2012. The casting director is seeking a young African American actor to play Jaden Smith at age 3. No prior acting experience is required, and both union and non-union talent will being considered.
Starring with Jaden Smith in "After Earth" is none other than his dad, two-time Academy Award nominee Will Smith. The story is set in a future in which humans no longer live on Earth after it becomes inhospitable. The elder Smith is playing a hero, while Jaden is his son, considered a failure as a warrior. When the two crash-land on Earth, it's up to the son to save the dad. Hunger Games star Isabelle Fuhrman has joined the cast and will play Jaden Smith character’s friend Rayna. Zoe Kravitz plays Will Smith's daughter, and Academy Award nominee Sophie Okonedo plays his wife in the film. (continued below)
